The Russian Woodpecker & Red Star Tales

Date: Saturday, January 30, 2016

at 2:00pm

Presented by

Movie Club Richmond
&
Chop Suey Books

The Russian Woodpecker follows Fedor Alexandrovich, who was 4 when he was exposed to the toxic effects of the Chernobyl meltdown and is now obsessed with it….why did it happen? Was there more than the Soviets let on? And what does it have to do with the “Russian Woodpecker” a cold war weapon rotting two miles from Chernobyl?

In Red Star Tales, Yvonne Howell brings to us works of science fiction unavailable in the west for over a century. Hear about 100 years of Russian science fiction in a dizzying array of styles.

The Russian Woodpecker will be presented by Noah Scalin, creator of the Skull-A-Day web project.

Both Noah and Yvonne will be available for book-signing following the film.
