The VCU French Film Festival Started in 1993 and began calling the Byrd Theatre home in 1996, just completing its 16th festival at the Byrd in 2008. The largest festival of its kind, it draws attendees from all over the world, all of whom remark that the festival is one of a kind, and so is the venue.
International Festivals: Expanding our partnership with VCU, the Byrd has collaborated on two additional international film series and students and faculty have helped produce other events. Plus, the Byrd has now played host to a growing Chinese film festival for three years. In addition to these, a local businessman has been doing Indian film screenings at the Byrd, diversifying our audience even more.
